The St. Louis Cathedral is located right in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. It serves as the place of worship for a sizeable Catholic community. Sunday services are always well attended with an incredible choir to accent an already spiritual mass. The stained glass windows that adorn the sides of the building allow an ethereal light passing through its myriad of colors giving it a stronger presence.
Guided tours are offered throughout the day. It makes it difficult during mass times when there is a lot of bustling happening all around you.
The bell outside the church always rings when mass is going to start which gives it an Old World feel. In the back is a small graveyard.
The church is located right at the top of Jackson Square which is always busy with peddlars and tourists. It's worth making the trip to see this fine monument that has survived the years in New Orleans.
PROS: Enormous and impressive
CONS: Can be distacting when tour guides are on when attending
