We just got back from Mardi Gras 2007. The hotel is in the DT disrict and is very close to all the Mardi action. They advertise that you can take the Riverfront train to the French Quarter in front of the hotel which is true..However, they forget to tell you that since Katrina..the train only comes ONCE an hour.Be ready to do Plenty of walking if you want to spend time in the Quarter. You can take cabs if your budgit will let you. The hotel is wonderful! The room was CLEAN.. CLEAN.. CLEAN..and we were treated so well by the staff from check in to check out. I would not use the mini bar or eat in the hotel since you are in New Orleans and good food is to be found on every block for 3 times less than what they charge. The rooms have great bathrooms, nice beds and free coffee and tea. BRING Bottled water...The water from the taps taste like BLEACH! This is a great hotel and I hope that you will visit NOLO soon. You will see some of the damage from Katrina at places like the Imax and the riverfront mall but, the city is still amazing and the people are really happy to have tourisit again. We had people thanking us for coming back every place we went. There are to great places to eat near the hotel..Mothers and Rosie's diner. You can walk to both. The Casino in right acrss the street..I found 4 five dollar bills over 3 days outside the casino so I was up with out spending any money.Don't forget about the buffet at the casino if your on a budget.. only $12.99 at lunch! GREAT DEAL! Bonus..We got in at 1:30 pm and they gave us a room and Mardi Gras beads! No smoking in the rooms... I will stay there again!

Pros: Great location ,Comfy beds

Cons: Long walk to the FQ

Average room, advertised "new" mattresses are back breakers, couldn't get bathroom exhaust fan fixed in 6 days, 2 star food at 5 star prices, 28 trips to the "Big Easy"...my first and last at the Riverside Hilton! Don't waste your money here!!!

The selling point for this hotel is its proximity to everything New Orleans. Its right on the river, walking distance from the French Quarter, and attached to a huge mall for the shoppers. Biggest issue rooms were not ready when we arrived at 5pm. Still not ready at 7:30pm, and we could see long lines waiting to check in.

Pros: nice rooms, good brunch

Cons: late with rooms
