my boyfriend had already eaten here and suggested it to me while on the trip. the restaurant was refreshing compared to the the humid 90 degree weather, and the food was awesome.
we ordered the seafood gumbo, boudin link (good but small for the price), and the seafood platter (a huge amount of shrimp, oysters, crawfish, stuffed crab, jambalaya and french fries), all of which were delicious.
highly recommended!
Pros: huge portions, friendly
Cons: a little expensive

I'm a Cajun, born and raised (but relocated), and I recently had the opportunity to dine at Mulate's in New Orleans. The food was outstanding... reminded me of my grandma's. The service was great, and the music even better. Definitely a great family alternative while in New Orleans. My kids loved it!
Pros: Very family friendly
Cons: No parking lot
Average food, and prices a little on the high end. Reviewed by RickandDani on

As a born and raised south Louisiana boy, I have to admit this is not what I expected fom a local Cajun style resturant. The food was average and the prices a bit high. But then again, maybe I expect too much as my entire family is "Cajun" and Cajun food is what I was raised on. The place and the ambiance is nice and the service pretty good. If you are looking for a taste of Cajun cuisine, it's overall not a bad place to try.
Pros: service is pretty good
Cons: average food quality and prices a little high
