Description

The French, Spanish, Italians, Germans & Irish all brought their own religious beliefs to the City of New Orleans. Catholics were predominate, but they and the Protestants fought nothing less than a Holy War to defend against & cleanse the city and its people of Evil! All the while, Great Miracles were happening!
We will be discussing some of the miracles from long ago, as well as those more recent.
Included are French Quarter churches, hush-hush site of exorcisms, stories & sites of miracles, St. Louis Cathedral, & the Mortuary Chapel.

Visualize the French Quarter, from its' beginning. Catholics were predominate, but as more immigrants arrived, their religions became a part of religious history. Some religions melded together to create yet another religion.
St. Louis Cathedral's history dates back to the 1700's. As this was the first religion, brought by the French, it is here the journey begins.
With slavery, Voodoo came from Africa & Haiti, to bring mystery, intrigue & fear to faithful followers of the Catholic church.
Delve into the history of the first black nun, her impact on the city with kindness and healing, and where she stands today on her way to Sainthood in the Catholic church.
The Ursuline Nuns brought healing & education to New Orleans, along with many miracles. Wonder, as your guide tells stories from long ago, of miracles associated with this small group of dedicated women.
Visit the Italian section of the French Quarter & see the beautiful church they built for worship.
See the location where exorcisms were practiced (and still may be today).
The Methodists also built a church on the boundary of the French Quarter. You will see this beautiful creation as you stroll along.
Congo Square was the meeting place, on Sundays, for those who practiced Voodoo, while wondering citizens gazed in amazement as they carried out their unfamiliar customs and rituals.
The Mortuary Chapel, beautiful in it's stance, from 1826, was originally built to thwart the spread of disease through the city.
Great miracles, religion, beautiful churches and amazing history and architecture await you on this two hour walking tour in the French Quarter, New Orleans!
